Real-World Performance Testing
During our field test, the key lockbox delivered dependable performance for both outdoor and indoor scenarios. The resettable combination worked flawlessly, and setting a new passcode took less than a minute. Its weatherproof lock box casing prevented moisture from affecting the lock, even after two weeks of exposure to harsh rain—meeting the promise of secure key storage under all conditions.
The device held up to five keys without any jamming or sticking. The vinyl coating ensured no scratches on painted doors or knobs. Testers found that this model could be set up on standard residential door knob lockbox fittings, gates, and even utility fences with no tools required. For renters or homeowners who often grant temporary property access, it’s a reliable and stress-free choice.
However, a few users noted that the dials can feel a bit stiff in colder conditions, a common limitation among combination key safes. According to Master Lock, the box’s weather cover should always be used to reduce this problem. Read additional customer feedback on the Home Depot reviews page for more user insights.

How It Compares to Alternatives
This product is often compared to other portable lock box and combination key safe options such as the Kidde AccessPoint KeySafe and the Igloohome Smart Keybox. While the Master Lock offers a familiar resettable code operation, competitors like Igloohome may include smart phone access, yet often at a higher cost.
In terms of price and warranty, this model sits mid-range, offering durability and trusted performance without the tech learning curve of digital outdoor key boxes. The Master Lock’s reliable build and reputable brand backing set it apart for users who value simplicity, especially when compared to keyless Wi-Fi alternatives.
Who Should Buy This Product?
This tool is an excellent choice for realtors, vacation rental owners, and busy families needing reliable property access for trusted guests or service providers. It’s also ideal for elderly homeowners who want to share access with caregivers without managing multiple copies of keys.
On the other hand, tech enthusiasts looking for Bluetooth or app-based solutions may prefer a smart alternative, and those needing access for only one user at a time might find a traditional door knob lock more cost-effective.
